As for the bowstring, that's merely because of the lack of movement in a comic.MaGnUshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06351888054411049033noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19261226.post-62607239473588041132007-08-11T18:17:00.000-03:002007-08-11T18:17:00.000-03:00Hi Magnus,If it's archery there is no way i can fi...Hi Magnus,
If it's archery there is no way i can find it. I do not know much of it.
But i will try one last time.
Is the nit that the Bow is ment to be hold under the thin part(next to the lower limb)?
On the Bow, the thin part is the part that has the sight.
Looks like Merlyn is holding the Bow not from the Bow grip but from the sight.
Or maybe the problem is that he did shoot some arrows but the bowstring does looks like has not moved at all. I hadn't noticed.

"I was going to mention Mythbusters demonstrating the practical impossibility of cleanly splitting an arrow - I know she's a superhero and thus reliably brilliant at all kinds of mad stuff, but to me, that's the kind of trick I'd reserve for people like Amadeus Cho, where that kind of perfect mathematical precision is his superpower."

I agree with you, that's why I groaned at the sight, and why I made a nit of her deflecting arrows some weeks ago, but then I said "what the hell, it's a comic book, and she's been trained by people like Lady Shiva..." And as for Amadeus Cho, I like the character, but the disabling of the missile in WWH 3 was a little too much for me. Yes, he's got superintelligence and can calculate angle, speed, trajectory, etc... but all that doesn't make him Ballistic from Cyberforce or Bullseye from Marvel.... but what the hell.

"And I did suspect it was that the two arrows in the air when Canary is leaping are intact, as I took them to be the ones she'd caught and was tossing away - but perhaps that's just her attacker firing really quick."

Someone else at ICS.net pointed that out, but I think it's Merlyn shooting (you don't fire an arrow, you shoot it or lose it :P) fastly.

"I'm assuming he's one of those super-archers that superhero comics love to have."

Yes, he's one of Green Arrow's archenemies.

"But I'm now leaning towards all the arrows in the last panel being green instead of blue. See how his crashing against a glass and some sort of doorway? Well, it's not a doorway, it's a display case. Like Jordan commented a few posts back, there's a "phantom hand" behind Merlyn in panel 2, but I answered it's a glove in a display case. It's a matter of context, from issue #1 they've shown that Merlyn has an obsession with his nemesis, Green Arrow, and collects all sort of stuff related to him (merchandising, costumes, arrows); hence the trick arrows, including a boxing glove one, in the last panel.

Keep on trying to guess guys, this one is difficult. I rated it a six not because of it's conspicuousness, but because of the lack of research that the culprit shows. It's not the fact that Merlyn's right hand wears a full glove in the last panel (that's the nit somebody I had missed), and it's something related to archery.

"I got a unique 'nit' this week - my Shanna: Survival of the Fittest #1 had a couple of pages out of order. And I did suspect it was that the two arrows in the air when Canary is leaping are intact, as I took them to be the ones she'd caught and was tossing away - but perhaps that's just her attacker firing really quick.
